What the Olympics have got to do with a baby, you ask?Well, this is Huirou's first olympics.
Although she doesn't quite know yet what all the excitement is about, she senses the excitement in the air.
Instance #1,
we were having our dinner at a Nasi Kandar outlet near our house one evening, and as usual plenty of people were glued to the screen. Fine, alot more than usual. Infact, the place was packed. It turned out that we arrived 20 minutes before the badminton semi-finals ends. People were cheering and routing for our very own Lee Chong Wei. Huirou was laughing an clapping to the "YES! YES! YES!" shouts of the crowd.
Instance #2,
Since by now we know that Datuk Lee have won the semis, it is natural that we watch the finals too. This time, at my home in Ipoh comfortably. Although the "crowd" is much smaller, we were plenty excited. She laughed and laughed at us cheering (oklah, also to our aiyah's....) Needless to say, I was watching her more than the game.
I will remember how suddenly, during the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008, my baby became so excited over an event she barely knows about.
